Hi all,my name is Stephanie and my homeroom teacher at school told me about this website and she to suffers from the Sickle Cell Anemia Disease.I'm of mixed heritage but I have a lot of different African Origins in me.(Morrocan,Mauritianian,Eritrea-Nara,Somalian,Ghanian,and Senegalian)I know a lot of people with the trait and the disease,my big mama being one of them. She always had a positive outlook on life despite her constantly being hospitalized and sick, she was always there for me when I feel I had no one else to turn to,she taught me how to be the young woman I am today,I love you and miss you grandma,Its been five years and I still can't believe you're gone..but I know you're watching over me from your new home in heaven.:)
I see people that have the disease as one of my inspirations to live because even though they are always in so much pain, they manage to live and be strong with the help of the good lord. I had an older twin brother by the name of Stephon, but he passed away 4 hours prior to our birth because he had the Sickle Cell disease and he caught pneumonia..R.I.P Bro.I have the trait and was born underweight and with iron deficiency, they said I wouldn't make it through the night, but here I am,standing tall and proud all because of God.I still get sick sometimes and I still suffer from low iron levels, and it has made my growth stop, but I couldn't be more happier to be alive and knowing that God touched me with his grace.
I want to become a pharmacist so that I can help people with the disease (and other diseases)so I can comfort them, that is my driving force to want to become one and I am going to do it.
If anyone ever needs anyone to talk to,i'm here and I can feel your pain to.
Peaceful Songs.
There she is :),I love you big mama and I miss you so much, thank you for all you've done for me.
