SCD Stress Study

Hello everyone

This is an open invitation to everyone to help me complete my dissertation research. My study focuses on the pain and non-pain stressors associated with sickle cell disease from the patient's perspective.

The purpose and goal of this research is to first identify and describe these stressors ["daily hassles'] from the patient's perspective and then to increase awareness of these lived experiences among health care providers [nurses, doctors, emergency personnel, etc.]


The website http://www.scdstresstudy.com has all of the information for participation in a one hour, toll free, private and confidential telephone interview for which each participant will receive $20.00 [twenty dollars] mailed to you.


Eligble participants are men and women at least 18 years of age at the time of the interview and who:

a. have sickle cell disease [NOT trait]
b. live in the UNITED STATES [except Alaska and Hawaii]
c. are NOT residing in a correctional facility at the time of the interview
d. speak English

I am really excited about this research and, people who have participated have agree with me that it is desperately needed!
